During the 2007 Ontario provincial election, there was a referendum on whether to change the electoral system from plurality to one of mixed member proportional (MMP). It was supported by a grassroots, not-for-profit organization called Fair Vote Canada.
I was asked by the organization to create a poster that helped raise awareness of the campaign in support of the electoral change. I included a close, point-of-view photo of former South African president Nelson Mandela and a caption that explained the struggles he faced for almost three decades as a political prisoner before he could finally vote in a free and fair, democratic election for the first time in his country’s history.
